The Dales Way
Holly Cottages is situated at the end of the Dales Way, a popular 76 mile walk spanning some of the most scenic vistas in the country from Ilkley near Leeds to Bowness, on the Shores of Lake Windermere in Cumbria. Holly Cottages is a good finishing point for your travels if you wish to unwind after a week's hard slog along the valleys. Take some time out at the edge of one of England's most tranquil lakes as you recharge your batteries ready for your jouney home.

The route is also popular with walkers travellng from West to East, making Holly Cottages an ideal starting point for those wishing to get walking early on.



The journey is usually broken down across five to six days. The first part of the walk follows the River Wharfe from Ilkley up to its source in Langstrothdale, then on over the Pennines to Gearstones and into the Cumbrian Dales via Dent and Sedbergh following the Dee, Lune and Kent rivers. The final stretch takes you into the Lake District itself via Kendal, Burneside and Staveley to Bowness, on the banks of Lake Windermere.
